Scored a reef up her ein North Wales that was peeking well over 10ft, pretty crazy but sweet!
Had a few big seshes at combesgate that have been over 10 too.

...erm define 'surfed' .
If by that you mean 'was mostly upright and in the vacinity of', then 10ft+.

I mean caught and stood on and got a good ride off of it and didn't wipeout on.

I caught a cracker this afternoon I don't know what size it was but it sure was a long waaaaaaaaaay down. Probably 12 ft as I've been on top of 12' foot vert skateboarding ramps and it was similar view but seemed scarier as ramps don't pitch over and try to drown you.

I don't know if it was my biggest but it sure was fun, I messed up the ride with a crap turn further on and it killed my speed and I lost the wave, which was just as well because if I had taken it all the way in I would have trouble getting out through all that white water again.

Here is an example of 12' vert it looks rather tame from below.

probably 5 or 6 ft at polzeath last summer. im not massively good on judging waves sizes i just surf what comes at me!

did about a six foot wave before that was great, but ill leave all this big wave surfing for you guys! ill just stick to my 3 foot babies!!

My biggest and best wave was (if you check out one of my posts abot fear,)it was the day after that and it was simalar conditions and there was three of us out at the end of the summer hols and it was abou 7 oclock and the waves were ranging from shoulder to head and a bit ,and then this freak set come in and i paddeled for one of the waves ,that was about a head high(me being 5"8ish)wave which suddenly went biggerr and bigger about 3 foot bigger ,but was about to chicken out and then i felt the back end of the board get pulled up to the top of the wave and i s**t my self .But just as i felt like i was going to be flipped over from the back end of the board i had a sudden attack of cofin dence and popped up putting most my weight on the front of my board and the speed that i got was massive and i ridd it down the line all the way to the shore and i got some shouts and woo hoos from the other two lads out and sat there with a phat grin n me face !

Yeah that's why I had to post that stupid ramp picture as there are different interpretations of what 12 foot actually is. I think most surfers from around where I'm from would call that a 6 foot wave.

I don't know why becuase the face is 12 foot and that's the part you ride and the distance you would fall if you tipped over the lip.

but that includes the trough, so the face is technacly only like six feet high, but then there is a big depression infront of it which makes it seem like more.

I tink.... but I also read if you took a six foot wave from hawaii and stuck it in florida, they would call it a ten footer, in socal it would be an eight footer, in mexico it would be a seven footer, and in norcal it would be six and a half...

The whole "measured from behind"-thing originates from Hawaii. When surfing was getting very popular in Hawaii, the folks that did the forecast startet to measure from behind. This resulted in less surfers showing up at the spots, because when the report said it was 3 foot waves, pepole didn't bother to show up. But when they reported 10 foot surf, people showed up. Problem was that the wave was in fact 16-18 foot, and people got hammered. That put an end to it, and now the proper way to measure it, is from the front

The Surf News Network which is Hawaii based still measures the Hawaiian way. That network is the best resource to any surfer in Hawaii and many still believe in that system and use it. [url]Surf-news.com[/url] is the site for the Surf News Network. They also have a phone number with a recording on surf conditions twice a day. I still think Hawaiian measurements are strong in Hawaii even if the local news channels don't measure that way.
